Concretisation of PBL
Examples from study environments
If you have a good example of how you have incorporated the following into your studies, please contact AAU Student Guidance.
How can PBL be made more specific?
PBL is a central part of AAU's DNA, including group and project work, which is the dominant form of study work. PBL and the way of working of the programmes are something that, together with the academic content, is of great importance for potential students' choice of education.
At the same time, PBL, group and project work for some students are also the reason why they withdraw from AAU. It must therefore be clear to potential students that learning at AAU takes place through problem-oriented project work, as well as how problem-oriented learning is specifically integrated into the programme, as well as how problem-oriented project and group work is weighted.
In this way, drop-out due to lack of knowledge of this part of the education can be prevented. With a positive sign, this knowledge can also attract and motivate the students, who assess PBL as well as group and project work as attractive elements in addition to the academic part of the study programmes.
How can you elaborate on the meaning of PBL?
- Use of video material with VIP and students
- Provide examples of project work and/or graphic illustration of how much project work takes up in each semester
- Look at whether problem-oriented project and group work is clearly integrated into the study activity model for the programme
If you want to know more
It is typically the head of studies/study board who is responsible for initiating the above mentioned, while it is often a VIP and local TAP who are performing the task.
