Special Educational Support (SPS) for students
About the initative
Are you aware of a student who have a physical or mental disability that needs additional support to function on equal terms with other students? As a study secretary, lecturer, or student counsellor, do you not feel equipped to handle this matter? Then we are here to help and support you.
In AAU Student Guidance, we are focused on helping vulnerable students and have a good overview of the available options. The guidance is focused on listening and asking questions about the student's situation and getting the student referred to the right treatment. If you as an employee do not feel equipped to handle a specific case, you can always call the Student Guidance for support.
Who should you contact about what?
The SPS Office at AAU - for applications of extra help
If a student with a mental vulnerability or diagnosis requests additional support - for example mentor support - the student can be referred to the SPS office at AAU.
SPS stands for Special Educational Support and is an offer for students who have a physical or mental disability such as dyslexia, a mental illness, or a physical disability, so that the students can complete an education on equal terms with other students. The SPS office will be responsible for preparing an individual offer for the student who is referred.
Contact the SPS office at AAU or phone no. 9940 9430 from 10:00 to 12:00 (Tuesday and Thursday).
AAU Student Guidance - for support and conversation
Whether you think the student needs one or more conversations or support to become part of the group work at their study programme, you are always welcome to contact AAU Student Guidance for support on how to handle the situation or approach a conversation with a student.
AAU Student Guidance at studievejledning@aau.dk or at phone no. 9940 9440 from 12 to 14 (Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday).
